How to Size for Press On Nails

Starting with bare nails, prep by pushing cuticles back using a wooden pusher or your tool of choice.

Choose a tip and hold it flat against the nail you are choosing to size.

Check to make sure that the natural nail is completely covered on both sides, and the tip is not overlapping any skin or cuticle.

Once you’ve found a tip that fits, record it in the corresponding space on the other side of this card.

Once you’ve recorded all 10 sizes, snap a photo and email it to sizing@starryvarnish.com with your name in the subject line.

How to Apply Press On Nails

Starting with clean, bare nails, prep by pushing back cuticles using the wooden pusher included in your kit.

Use your buffer to buff away any shine and residual dead skin from the nail plate.

Wipe the nails with an alcohol wipe, making sure to remove any dust and not to touch skin or hair once wiped.

Apply nail glue on the natural nail, being careful not to get it on the skin.

Apply the press on nail at a 45 degree angle starting at the cuticle, and gently press down until the nail lays flush against yours. hold in place for about 15 seconds.

Repeat on all nails.

After applying, avoid hot water or submerging nails for 12 hours.

How to Remove Press On Nails

Fill a bowl with warm to hot water and two pumps of dish soap and a spoonful of cooking oil to help speed up the process.

Soak your nails in the warm water and soap mixture for ten to 15 minutes.

The soap and oil will break down the nail glue and most of the nails should start to pop off as you soak.

You can also use the wooden stick provided to lift the press-on nails once they’ve soaked but never force it.

If removal ever hurts, stop and go back to soaking your nails.

Once you start pulling or forcefully removing the press-ons, it’s entirely too easy to damage your nail beds.

Press On Nails are reusable with proper removal and can be worn up to 5 times.

If needed you can use an E-file or hand file to remove excess glue or debris from the back of the nails to save for later use.
